Watercolors By Jane Huggins

I am a watercolor artist, painting whatever draws my attention visually.  Vivid color, pattern and texture excite me.

Using bold composition, my paintings can draw you from across the room. Walk up close to enjoy surprising detail. Much of my work is realistic, but the background can be very abstract. Light and color are strong attributes in my work. The red apple is never just red.

No subject is too challenging.  I usually set goals for what I want to achieve in each painting.  I am not doing a series of flamingos, wanting to be loose and follow the light.  Often paint and water is put down on my paper  letting the different pigments flow and intermix. Uniquely the paint do some of the work.  The the creativity really begins, using what happened.

I love wildlife and nature. Living in Florida is a dream come true.  All year round, there is much opportunity to be outside with a camera ready.  When I travel, exploring a new environment is exciting, giving me new inspiration.  I paint life in all its richness.
